Tracy McKenzie, Professor of History at Wheaton College, joins Daniel to discuss the Trump phenomenon against the backdrop of American political history. Dr. McKenzie analyzes the current state of Evangelical politics and considers the effect that this election cycle is having on the Church's broader witness.

About Our Guest

Tracy McKenzie is Professor of History at Wheaton College and Chair of the History Department. He came to Wheaton in 2010 after twenty-two years on the faculty of the University of Washington. For most of his professional career, his research has focused on the effects of the American Civil War on the economy and society of the Upper South.

More recently, Professor McKenzie has turned his attention to the ways in which American evangelicals have remembered their national heritage. Toward that end, he recently wrote a book on memory of Thanksgiving titled The First Thanksgiving: What the Real Story Tells Us About Loving God and Learning From History, published by Intervarsity Press in 2013. Professor McKenzie also blogs regularly about faith and American history, and you can find his reflections here.
